Welcome to Marninwarntikura Women's Resource Centre
Marninwarntikura is a centre of inspiration that provides women and their families a place for positive change and leadership. Marninwarntikura is a Walmajarri word. ' Marnin' means 'women', 'Wanti' means 'big mobs of women' and 'Kura' means 'belonging to'. When said together, it means that women who belong to this region, these countries and each other, have come together.

2025 Revealed Exhibition
This month, Marnin Studio artists Marion Bear, Deborah Yadda, and Julie Wallaby proudly showcased their work at the 2025 Revealed Exhibition at PICA.
The Marnin Studio team made the journey to Perth to participate in a week of workshops and events coordinated by the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of Western Australia (AACHWA).
The week began with a powerful Smoking Ceremony at Kaarta Gar-up, Kings Park, where we were welcomed to Country by Noongar Elders. From there, we attended workshops at the State Library of Western Australia, WA Museum Boola Bardip, and North Metropolitan TAFE — a week rich with learning, connection, and inspiration.
A highlight was the Saturday Art Market, where we joined a bustling and vibrant community of artists, art lovers, and supporters. After some time apart, it was incredibly special to reconnect with the broader Aboriginal arts community in such a lively and welcoming space.
Thank you to everyone who made the week so memorable. We are proud to be part of this strong and resilient network of Aboriginal artists and art centres.

Our first Bush Medicine and Dye Workshop
A great day as women gathered at the Marnin Studio, and once everyone had arrived, we boarded the bus and discussed our travel plans. Being on Country was a true delight, collecting materials alongside Aunty Edna Cherel and Cherry Smiler. Their cultural knowledge guided our movements and the process of collection.
The experience was enriched by sharing stories and learning from one another.
Stay tuned for more!
We are grateful to be jointly funded by the Australian and Western Australian Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements

Standing Together for Ochre Ribbon Week 2025
12–19 February 2025
At Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre, we are proud to stand in solidarity with Ochre Ribbon Week—a national movement dedicated to ending family violence and advocating for the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children, and families.
Family violence is a pressing issue in our communities, and this week is a time for awareness, action, and meaningful conversations. Throughout Ochre Ribbon Week 2025, MWRC will be hosting community yarning sessions, awareness campaigns, and solidarity events to support healing and prevention.
This year, we are also launching the Us Without Abuse campaign (uswithoutabuse.com), which provides powerful tools and resources for breaking the cycle of violence.
Together, we can create change and advocate for a future free from violence.
